Erythema migrans

Erythema migrans is a type of rash that appears in the primary stage of the Lyme disease. On average, 70-80% of the people found this rash at the beginning of the Lyme disease. This rash is solid round and appears to be a bull’s eye. If you find a similar rash, you should diagnose with the Lyme disease.

The rashes of the Erythema migrans are 2-2.5 inches, which keep on increasing and can expand up to 12 inches. After a tick bite, these rashes appear in 7-10 days. Redness and bumps appearing after a tick bite is not a sign of Lyme disease. Other symptoms may include: 

• Headache
• Pain in joints
• Chills
• High fever

Erythema migraine is not a result of a tick bite, but it is a sign of infection of Lyme disease. Lyme disease is the only cause of Erythema migraine. A similar rash may appear due to a star tick bite, unlike Lyme disease, it will never form a bull’s eye pattern. 

There are some oral antibiotics, which can be taken in use to treat Lyme disease. These oral antibiotics are doxycycline and amoxicillin. A course of 14-21 days of these antibiotics can treat it.
