Huntington's disease is a rare type of genetically transmitted disease where a person's brain's nerve cells gradually destroy. The destruction of nerve cells causes functional disabilities in the person. This disease causes movement, cognitive and psychiatric disorders. Nervous cell destruction can happen to people at any age, but it is called Huntington's Disease when the patient is in his 30s or 40s. The same condition is known as Juvenile Huntington's Disease when it happens to people under or at the age of 20. This dangerous disease is caused to a person due to the malfunctioning of his gene's inheritance process because of which he gets a defected single gene. Even if you get proper genes set but one of your parents is infected with this disease, you are also at a high risk. After being infected by this disease, the patient's health conditions decline with the passage of time. Current treatments can only help to manage its symptoms but can do nothing to prevent the physical and mental harm. However, the patient can easily lives up to 30 years with this disease. They are at a very high risk of suicidal tendencies because of the presence of potential risk factors such as depression, anxiety and aggression in the patients. Since this disease make a person completely bedridden, he has to depend on others to carry his day-to- day chores. Even during the later stages of the disease a patient becomes unable to speak.
